#00 made her first race
at AIS and things went as well as we could
expect. The team was disappointed that we weren't allowed to run in the
makeup feature from last week but we did understand Frank's decision.
Eddie took the car out in the hot lap session which was his first time on the track with traffic. He held his own with some of the faster cars but said the car was super loose, the same problem we have been fighting in out testing sessions. The heat race went ok. Eddie started scratch and worked his way up to sixth position. The car was still loose; it would be nice to be able to put the power down that Derrick "THE KID" built into our engine. We got to make a few solo hot laps; it was a great time for "TEX" who came to the track to take photos for the team to get those great photos you see on our website. The 00 BuckShot Team has made "TEX" our official "PITA". If you don't know what "PITA" stands for e-mail me and I'll explain. We started 9th in the main event and Eddie worked his way up to 6th position, he tried to get around another car, when he gave her the juice the back end came around and he did a 360, the #75 car tried to miss him but ran into the rear end. The team was surprised to see Eddie bring the car into the pits, the only thing we saw was that the rear bumper was dented and a small scratch on the rear panel. He never even caught up with the field before the race was over. When the race was over we asked Eddie what the trip to the pits was all about he said the hit from the #75 car was hard and he assumed that we had some serious damage. When we went and looked at the #75 we saw how hard the hit was, John's car had some serious damage to the front end. Overall the night went well, if we can figure out how to correct our loose condition we will be a car to contend with. There was a hollow feeling about the night, our Crew Chief, Derrick "THE KID" Martin had the duty at Ft. Drum and wasn't with us for our first race. Derrick and Eddie are both soldiers attached to the 287th at Drum. After the race we asked Team 50's chassis expert to look at our set up. Murray gave us a few things to look at and if I know Murray our loose condition might be a thing of the past. Thanks Team 50! We plan on being at the last race next Saturday; I hope we see more cars in our class show up for the last race. It sure looked good seeing 12 cars on the track. - Bill For more info about the team or any member, contact them at their Edwards, NY offices and race shop by calling (315) 562-3243 or sending email to ssnhvacr@tds.net anytime. Hi
TEAM,Old "TEX" came through again, he came to the track to capture the 00 CAR on the track for the first time. THANKS "TEX"! The photos are up on 00BuckShotRacing.com so take a look. Our friends at the track, Sheldon and Paul, allowed us to do this testing on a special day so the TEAM wants to say THANKS we sure needed it. The session didn't start very well. Though a weld broke on the exhaust system on the first lap and the tail pipe was dragging on the track, a quick fix by "THE KID" fixed the problem and back on the track we went. With the exhaust rehung "FAST EDDIE" was anything but "FAST"! The car would make a good lap and then lay down and sound like a 2 cylinder John Deere. It sounded like a fuel problem so we tried various jet sizes to no avail. We were just about ready to take the 00 Car back to the barn when "THE KID" said "could the fuel cell be in backwards"? We didn't have anything to lose so we turned the cell around and the problem was fixed! "FAST EDDIE" got some needed track time with an engine that was running pretty darn good. The car did good and if they would let us run with the trucks we would have our first checkered flag. We have some serious work to be done to get the car to handle so "FAST EDDIE" can live up to his name. Two of our friends from Edwards came to the track to help, Frank and Art jumped right in to help where ever they could. THANKS GUYS! Overall the day was pretty good, we took a new car to the track, had some problems, fixed the problems, got some seat time, and brought the car home in one piece. NOT BAD, TEAM! -Bill Team 00 Buckshot Racing salutes
